Cypress Vine

There was a little rain in Oklahoma last Thursday and that lowered the temperature a lot. The temperature is expected to go back up again later this week. We have ordered the mobile home and have been told that it will be about 3 months before we can move into it. I walked around the garden Sunday to check out the after rain mushrooms. My cat is still sick although her eyes look a little better. My boyfriend tried to take her to the vet but she bit him and he couldn’t get her in the carrier. I’m going to go there with him tomorrow to try to get her to the vet. If that doesn’t work then we’ll try to get a drop trap to catch her. I bought one pansy and two violas to plant once the grasshoppers go away and the weather gets cooler. They were affordable but they don’t do well in summer heat in Oklahoma. I saw a few butterflies at the farm as well as the caterpillar of the Great Ash Sphinx. The caterpillar looks similar to the tomato hornworm. This moth feeds on ash trees and these are in danger because of the emerald ash borer. Most of the ash trees on the farm have been killed by the emerald ash borers. We will have to remove a few of the dead ash trees to make room for the mobile home. There are still some flowers blooming and I saw the first cypress vine flower this week. It struggled during the very hot summer and I didn’t think it was going to flower. Pentas, scarlet sage , alyssum, mist flower, Turk’s cap, wild asters, late boneset sneezeweed dayflowers, morning glories and sunflowers are all blooming. The pink vitex has a few flowers but the blue one is not flowering now. I also saw the fruit of the Turk’s cap this week. The edible fruits are called Mexican apples. I drew a few bears for fat bear week last week for fun. I tried Thums Up for the first time this week. It tastes just like the Coca Cola I am familiar with. I don’t think I could tell the difference between the two. My sister and nephews are coming to visit me next weekend. I have been researching some tourist type activities to do with them when they are here. I’m really looking forward to seeing them.
