Painted Lady

The weather is hot and dry once again in central Oklahoma. It still feels like summer, although it should be fall. Rain is forecast for later this week and cooler temperatures should follow. We were able to get the cat to the vet and she was diagnosed with pancreatitis. She will recover but is in the hospital for 2 weeks to receive treatment. I haven’t planted the pansies and violas yet because there are still lots of grasshoppers around. I saw some nice butterflies this week, including a pipevine swallowtail and a painted lady. I also saw an admirable grasshopper this week. The crossvine had a new flower on it and the cypress vine continues to bloom. We went to the lake and saw how dry it is there. A duck swam right up to me and I think it wanted food. I didn’t have any food and it left quickly when it realized I was empty handed. My sister is visiting this week and I went to the contemporary art museum with her. We have not started packing yet but we will start next week.
