It was a very hot week in Oklahoma but it rained last night. The temperature was much cooler after the rain. My balcony garden is looking good and the zinnias are blooming. My boyfriend bought me a water dish for the animals and it is made of painted metal. It was so hot that the paint started to peel. Fortunately, I have another one that is ceramic. I made a mistake a few weeks ago and left an empty pot on the balcony. It filled with water and lots of mosquitoes were born. I saw many mushrooms today because of the rain, including Wood Ear. It is edible but we are afraid to try it in the wild. The cypress vine is not blooming yet but it is looking good. The squirrels have been splooting all over the place this week. We visited the farm today and the grasshoppers are out of control. They have eaten a lot of plants this year. In the future, we want to get chickens to help keep them in check. There are a few plants they don’t eat, including tomatoes. We found a lot of poison ivy The weeds are also increasing in my garden. I am slowly realizing that it is better for us to buy and transplant larger plants first. Starting from seed is challenging and the plants don’t grow fast enough to outcompete the weeds.I did some drawings this week of different flowers and want to draw more next week.I have a half day off on Friday and I’m looking forward to sleeping in. Have a great week!
