It was a humid and warm week in central Oklahoma since we had a little rain. It is expected to be extremely hot for the next few weeks here. I was looking forward to working in the garden this week but the grasshoppers didn’t leave much to work on. 😂 There seem to be a lot more grasshoppers this year and they are certainly hungry. We’re getting some netting to cover the fruit trees and this can also provide a little shade for them during the heat wave. We went out for a short hike by a nearby lake to enjoy the last of the cool weather yesterday. I saw some nice birds, including a great egret and some Mississippi kites. I also saw some butterflies, and one butterfly I haven’t seen before, the Viceroy. There were lots of nice wildflowers blooming along the trail. I saw one plant called a button bush that looked like the guy from Hellraiser. I also spotted a rabbit and a squirrel while hiking. I had a fun time and I was happy to find such a nice hiking area close to my home. I hope to go hiking there again soon. I took many pictures during the hike and also around the garden this week. I have been continuing to draw flowers from Michael Lakin’s book. I have also recently started reading a book about Pakistani food. It has a few recipes I’d like to try out soon. It is a good day to have a good day.
