The weather was mostly cloudy with a little rain in central Oklahoma this week. The clouds made some beautiful sunsets happen this week. It has been sunny today and very hot for the end of May. I am continuing to fill up the garden with more and more plants. This week, we got some new shade plants. We got a lungwort, a Jacob’s ladder, and a foxglove called Camelot Cream. The foxglove is starting to bloom now and has beautiful spotted flowers. I have already planted one foxglove that I started from seed but it is not flowering yet. I visited the farm on Wednesday to check on the cat and there were many new flowers to see. I didn’t have time to do much work but I always find time to take photos of flowers. I saw two new poppies and one of those was a California poppy. I hadn’t had any luck with those the past two years so I’m happy to see it. The honeyvine my sister gave me is coming up and may need to be moved somewhere where it can have more space. My boyfriend bought us some praying mantis eggs and we put them out in the garden in a sheltered spot. I also saw the first canna Lily bloom, a pretty pink color. We have some new wildflowers coming up including globe gilia, thistle, candytuft, and scarlet flax. The daisies and snapdragons are blooming now as well. I saw more larkspur blooming in a light purple shade. The most impressive flower was the datura which I did not see last year. It is a night bloomer so usually doesn’t open up during the day. However, the day that we visited the farm was very cloudy so I was able to see the large white flower open. It is a really beautiful flower and it attracts a large moth. We’re planning to go back to the farm next Saturday to do some work. I have not had time to draw much this week but I did finish the daffodil painting I started weeks ago. I think I might like to draw a peony next week. It is hard to believe that the year is half over. Time flies when you’re having fun.
