Marigolds

This week has very windy, which is not unusual for Oklahoma. We haven’t had our first freeze yet but some of my balcony plants are already having a hard time with the cold nights. The nicotiana and basil seem to be finished but the marigolds have come back to life in the cooler temperatures. The forget me not also put out a few new blooms. The zinnias are hanging on but not making many new blooms now. The mint and scarlet runner bean are barely living. The green onions I planted are growing well in the cool weather. The peanuts seem to be doing well still. Almost all of the balcony plants have powdery mildew because it has been a really humid year. The ginger and aloe vera have recovered and grown a bit since being moved inside. It has been an interesting week as our washing machine and microwave both broke. I have also been a bit tired from a lupus flare this week so I didn’t get to do as much photography this week as usual. The butterflies have all left for now and the leaves are changing colors. I discovered that my new sweater glows in the dark. My family sent me some pictures and letters in the mail this week. I am working on my mom’s Michael Jackson drawing and I am close to finishing. I think it looks a bit like him. My sister suggested that I frame it and give it to her in December when I visit. My nephew has requested that I draw a character called Guide from Roblox slap battles for him. So I will be working on that drawing next week. I have been reading a new book called Watercolor in the Woods. It has a great tutorial for a cute squirrel painting that I hope to try. I don’t have much experience with watercolors but it seems fun to try. I made a chili this week using the cherry tomatoes and peppers I brought back from the farm last week. I also made some cornbread to go with it. I pickled the rest of the peppers I didn’t use in the chili. We also had a time change here last night and this always affects me. Because the countries where my employers are located do not change their clocks, I should adjust my schedule an hour earlier. Which means I have to get up earlier and go to bed earlier. Starting today. 💤
