Sourdough Victory

It has been a really hot and windy week in central Oklahoma. Some of my seedlings were unable to handle the high winds and I lost a few. The squirrels also got to a couple of them. We acquired more plants this week including a Niagara grape, a Jupiter grape, and a small coral drift rose. We will be waiting to plant most of our plants until April 11th, in case we have another freeze. Our apartment living room will be a jungle for a few more weeks. I did not go to the farm this week but my boyfriend went to check on the littymIt was a very busy work week but I did manage to make another loaf of sourdough this weekend. I used the recipe from Alexandra’s kitchen. However, I don’t have a dutch oven so I put a pan of boiling water under the bread to create steam. The sourdough turned out well although it browned on top unevenly. Next time,.I want to try I drew some more flowers this week for fun. I also studied Sorolla in my art class this week. I received my birthday gifts from my family this week. They gave me a large cat bag, a watercolor workbook by Emily Lex and a travel watercolor set by a brand called Tobio’s. I have already tried to draw one of the sketches from the workbook. I like the reference sketches included in the workbook and tried to paint a hydrangea from the cover. The workbook is made of watercolor paper so you can paint in it. I have not tested the new watercolors yet but I will swatch them next week. I have used my new Haiya oil pastels and really like the creaminess of them. However, some of the colors have strange names. I am expecting to receive another gift card from my birthday this week. I’m planning to use it to buy a a new sketchbook Next week will be another busy one.
