The weather has been great to start off the new year. It has continued to be very warm this week in central Oklahoma. It is time for planning the spring garden and I have already placed my seed order. I got most of my seeds from Dollar Tree but I did order eight packs online. I ordered three from Baker’s Creek and five from a shop called Fellabees. They are both new companies for me to try and I hope I get good results. From Baker’s Creek, I ordered the Oklahoma pink zinnias, fairy dust balloon flower, and Mexican sunflower red torch. I like that they have free shipping and they also give a free pack of seeds with the order over ten dollars. From Fellabees, I ordered cardinal flower, wild blue indigo, wild columbine, purple love grass, and hollow Joe Pye weed. I liked their customer service and the shipping cost was not that high. My seeds have not arrived in the mail yet. I drew a big map of the garden area so I can plan out where to put everything. I planted four asparagus seeds this week that I collected from the garden. I will start more seeds indoors around the beginning of February. I also transferred the ginger into a larger pot. After moving it, I saw three zinnias pop up in the soil. The Mandarin tree is growing slowly. I saw lots of squirrels this week on the balcony. I tried a new Korean fast food restaurants in my town called Cupbop and it was pretty good. We also tested the new varieties of Dubai chocolate that showed up in my city recently. They were both delicious but the previous one from Sap Sap Sweets was tastier. The Lindt version was quite thin and the Fruity Nutty version was thicker but the chocolate flavor overwhelmed the pistachio flavor. The Lindt version was more expensive but I preferred the Fruity Nutty version. I was very busy with work this week but I did do my drawings for class. I also continued to work on the duck drawing I started recently. I am hoping to give that drawing to my sister in the future. We will be going to work in the garden again on the 17th. I have plans to rake leaves and prepare more trellises for the tall plants. I will finish up my seed plans next week.
