We are having our first freeze of the year tonight here in central Oklahoma. It was a busy week for me but my boyfriend had a few days off. He went to the farm to take the cat to the vet on Friday. While at the vet, the cat ran away from my boyfriend and got stuck in a drawer. My boyfriend also put in some new posts to use as trellises for the grapevines. Since I couldn’t go with him, he took some photos of the garden for me. I was surprised to see that there were still quite a few flowers and he even caught a late butterfly. There is also quite a lot of poison ivy inside of our fenced off area. I think there may be poison oak. I’m including a few pictures of what it looks like. He also saw a Virginia creeper vine near the coral bells I transplanted recently. These are not really poisonous but they are aggressive growers. So I think we will remove it soon so it doesn’t choke out my coral bells. Something ate the one walnut on our tree. The Russian sage that I transplanted a few weeks ago doesn’t look good. The oleander aphids completely decimated the milkweed. I found a stink bug in my apartment as well as a mouse. We are going to get some mouse traps before it gets out of control. I did a lot of drawing this week and even tried some new paper. I tried a watercolor paper called Arches that I have wanted to try for a long time. It was so expensive but after trying it I think it is worth it. It was easy to erase and very absorbent. I read a book this week about mulching and it did have some useful information. I didn’t have time to cook this week but there were a lot of leftovers from last week’s food. My boyfriend bought me some chocolate caramel candies from a fundraiser and they were delicious. I saw the Beaver super moon a few days ago. It was really big and bright. Next week, I will be doing a lot of clipping and cutting back some plants.
