Clouded Sulphur

There was a light rain this week in central Oklahoma and the temperature dropped a lot after the rain. It is starting to feel more like fall. The cool weather caused the basil and nicotiana to droop. I think they will be done for the year soon. The marigolds have stopped blooming but the zinnias are still going. It was another good week for watching the butterflies on my balcony. I saw a few different kinds of butterflies and skippers. I also saw some hoverflies this week. I saw a new butterfly this week, the clouded sulphur. It was much smaller than the cloudless sulphur that I spotted earlier in the year. It was a little iridescent and looked shimmery in the sun. There was also a monarch and a gulf fritillary hanging out on the zinnias together. I moved the ginger indoors because the squirrels kept digging it up. It doesn’t seem to be handling the transition to indoors well. I saw a lot of squirrels this week and they are still in digging mode. We are going to the farm this weekend and I will transplant the geranium and the coral bells. I will also spend some time reinforcing the hills with branches to prevent erosion. I also want to take pictures of the entire garden so I can plan for next year. I was very busy with work this week but I did make Korean fried chicken using this recipe: https://www.local10.com/soflo-taste/2025/10/10/sweet-crispy-korean-fried-chicken/ . It was really delicious and not too hard to make. I did some drawings for class this week and will work on more drawings for my mom next week. I think it will be another busy week coming up. I am thinking of making baked potato soup and chili cheese tater tots next week. It will be a potato πŸ₯” week. Potatoes were on sale last week. Delicious and healthy and cheap. Win, win ,win.
