It has been raining again this week in here in central Oklahoma. This year has been especially rainy. The rain is good for my garden as it would usually be much hotter and drier by now. The mosquitoes continue to invade my apartment. I haven’t been to the farm this week because it was a very busy week at work. My boyfriend’s mother gave me two more vitex trees and these are the pink ones. The one I have already planted is blue. I will take the two vitex and plant them the next time we go to the farm. I also have the hardy fiber banana tree, hydrangea, lavender, butternut squash, and moonflower that need to be transplanted. I did a drawing of Tinkerbell for my niece’s birthday. I call this drawing Tinker big legs because the legs are too big. I made chocolate chip cookies as well to take. I forgot to chill the dough so the first tray was a little off. Chilling the dough really improves the texture of the cookie and I think it is worth the extra time. I made a soup with zucchini, white beans, spinach, kale, onion, garlic, vegetable broth, basil and mint. This is very healthy but the taste is bland. Maybe I should have added a pepper. I am also planning to start making fruit smoothies to increase my fruit intake. It is 4th of July but I had to work so didn’t go out. Fortunately, someone was shooting fireworks near my apartment and I got a few shots. I always love to see the fireworks ππ. Tomorrow, I am driving to Texas to see my family. I am very excited to see them although it will be a long day for me. My balcony garden is doing great and I have several flowers blooming. The marigolds are starting to bloom. The zinnias and nicotiana also have beautiful flowers. I didn’t realize the nicotiana was multiple colors. There are pink, purple, and cream colored ones on my balcony now. I saw a praying mantis hiding out in one of my sunflowers after a heavy rain. I am lucky that it will not rain tomorrow during my long drive. I think it may rain again Sunday. I didn’t have time to read anything this week. I am hoping to visit the farm next week as I am sure the weeds are getting overgrown from all of the rain. Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans!
