Overgrown

It has continued to rain this week on and off in central Oklahoma. The start of May has been quite cool due to all of the rain. I have been working all week but my boyfriend visited the farm to feed the cat. He sent me a lot of pictures of the garden and it is looking very overgrown. The rain has really changed my garden into a rainforest. The grass in my bulb garden looks like it is waist high. The clover is flowering and continues to grow bigger. He said that my veggies are still looking good for now. My damaged rose bush has loved the rain and has really been rejuvenated. The comfrey also grew up tall and has flowered. I am hoping to collect some of the seeds of the comfrey to save. The elephant ear, fern, and hydrangeas are coming back. We are not sure if the fig trees survived the winter. I think the cold winter also took out the lavender. The pawpaw trees are still doing good. I had hoped to spend time planting the rest of my seeds on Saturday when I go to the farm again. However, it seems I will be spending my time on weeding and maintenance instead. I will transplant a few plants that I have been growing on my balcony to the farm. Saturday should be sunny so I want to take some pictures of the garden. My chaotic planting style and attitude of benign neglect has created a very wild looking scene to photograph. I finished drawing my sister’s favorite pokemon and sent it to her for her birthday. After sending it, I looked at the photo I had taken of it and realized that I had forgotten to color a small part of it. I wonder if she will spot what is missing. I sent my mom a mother’s day card in the mail, too. I made steak fajitas this week in the oven and they turned out great. I marinated them overnight in lemon juice and spices and cooked peppers and onions as well. I am planning to make chicken wings next. I am looking forward to seeing the garden and my cat this weekend. I think the end of May will be much warmer so I want to go out and enjoy the cool weather while it lasts.
