Many mushrooms after the rain ☔

I returned to the farm on Friday and did some more planting. Due to joining the seed exchange, I ended up with many seeds to plant indeed. I decided to go ahead and sow the ones that needed cold stratification now and let nature take care of that. Hopefully it will be a good decision and many wildflowers will show up in the spring. On 12/24/24, I planted: Yarrow Common milkweed Coreopsis Pincushion flowers Rose of Sharon Bluebonnet Black eyed Susan Cosmos Tatsoi black knight Large leaf round mache Amaranth mixed Coneflower mixed Aster and on 12/27/24, I planted: Red yucca Red Poppy red shiso Calico aster Purple aster Echinacea Large leaf aster Rose of Sharon Hollyhocks Verbena hastata White vervain Passion flowers Lovage Chervil Broadleaf sage Marsh mallow Feverfew Common milkweed Butterfly milkweed Black eyed Susan Shasta daisy Purple globe thistle Wildflower mix Lamb’s ear Burning bush Gregg’s mist flower Catnip Blanket flower Purple coneflower Shasta daisy. I think most of these like cold stratification but the amaranth may have been a mistake. I guess I will find out in a few months. I have many more seeds arriving and others that I am saving to plant in warmer weather. I tried trading for my pumpkin seeds, but these were far less popular than the persimmon seeds had been. We had a heavy rain recently and I observed many mushrooms in the garden, edible and inedible. We may eventually try mushroom farming, but I am skeptical about the safety of eating any wild plants because of my poor identification skills. This week, I made two types of cookies. I made coconut macaroons from a recipe on the back of a WinCo coconut bag. The taste of these was excellent, although I added cardamom and orange zest to the recipe for extra flavor. They didn’t look too pretty but my boyfriend loved them. I also made the three ingredient crinkle cookies from Kristin Chenoweth. This is the video with the recipe: https://youtu.be/-RlP1I89NeI?si=7Be6JIcxshD53AnK. These were good and easy, but I underbaked them slightly. It will be getting very cold here next week and I will be going back to check on the garden and cat again on Saturday. Happy New Year 2025!
