Letting go

The topic of letting go has been on my mind recently as the growing season ends. I wanted to share some quotes about letting go that I like:

“I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world, finding it so much like myself.” Albert Camus

“The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.” Marcus Aurelius

“You can only lose what you cling to .” Buddha

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. ” Lao Tzu

“This too shall pass.” Unknown

“Although the night is dark, it isn’t very long. If you don’t know, don’t worry .” Fred Again

“Change the way you see things and the things you see will change.” Wayne Dyer

“It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“We’re here for a good time, not a long time.” Trooper

“Seek not that the things which happen should happen as you wish; but wish the things which happen to be as they are, and you will have a tranquil flow of life.” Epictetus

I also wanted to share this interpretive dance video. I think it is about letting go and I enjoyed it. https://youtu.be/foEDIiSNbAY?si=N8-_DqzTphPeEToi

As I am getting older, I am learning the value of letting go. Holding on to the past and worrying about the future is unhelpful. Focusing on the present and what I can control is much more useful. By letting go of some of my expectations, I think I can have a more peaceful life. My energy is finite so I should not waste it by spreading it out to many things but try to consolidate it where it will be most effective. Letting go isn’t giving up, it’s just redirecting energy so it can be used more efficiently.
